U.S. Gas Prices Soaring

Gas prices are higher than this time last year — a lot higher.  Your home security team will probably be the least of your worries this year as you strike off on the holiday highways across the United States, heading for reunions and happy times with family or friends.  Travel is going to be in high gear beginning Wednesday, with an expected increase in the numbers of travelers over last year.  AAA predicts that more Americans will be both traveling for Turkey Day and spending more money than in recent seasons. Unemployment is finally beginning to drop off slightly, and personal income is creeping up.  This means that the economy may be finally headed for a rebound.  And it means people will be paying higher amounts per gallon of gas.

So,why do gas prices go up on holidays?  Actually, they don’t.  The prices right now are pretty high because they have been higher all year long.  In fact, people on average all across the US are paying about 60 cents more per gallon than this time last year — and that didn’t happen in one week.  Here is a video about this year’s anticpated holiday travel and costs:
